Massachusetts Loses Most Talented Workers
According to an article in the Worcester Telegram today, the new annual report from the Massachusetts Technology Council will show a disturbing trend — Massachusetts is losing its most talented workers. Between 2004 and 2005, employment in key technology clusters was down for:
- Computer & communications
- Defense manufacturing & instrumentation
- Diversified industrial support
- Financial services
- Healthcare technology
- Textiles & apparel
Increases were seen in: scientific, technical, and management services; business services, and software and communication services.
Don’t be surprised when the MSM gets hold of this report and then blames it all on Governor Romney and his administration. Which drives me absolutely crazy. Our legislature, which is 87% Dem’s, has been overriding his fiscally conservative policies from day one. Did they think this would never catch up with them? Can anyone say, TAXACHUSETTS?!
Gov Elect Deval Patrick now has to deal with the issue. There’s no one to pass the buck to anymore. Unless he becomes the new scapegoat for the legislature. After all, Travaglini is already whining that Patrick better stay in line and do as he’s told or he’s in for a difficult four years.
And no, I don’t believe Travaglini’s apology this weekend was sincere. He issued his warning shot across the bow. And now we’re all going to go down with the ship.
Just my personal observation, all of my peers in their mid 20’s into their 30’s simply can’t afford to settle down and start a family here. So they leave where their entire income(s) won’t be gobbled up by housing and transportation costs. Most couples know that a woman’s earning capacity is limited when she has small children, but it is impossible to buy a modest home based on one income. Wait they don’t build modest homes anymore unless you are over 55 or want to live in a two bedroom condo in which if you have more then two your children of opposite gender it is rough…. Never mind families just ruin the tax base with their kids in school so maybe it is best that they leave, who cares if their parents support the economy.

That’s ok….as long as we can maybe get some “undocumented” workers to come fill the void……..OH wait, landscaping and taxi driving is considered talented right?
Don’t let that flushing sound you hear, scare you.
