What's being repressed? And, no one should have the right to make fun of you ... in high school or anywhere else. Conservatives have unfairly labeled ANYONE who wants people to be treated fairly as being "politically correct" (thanks to the pill-popping addict/devil, Limbaugh). This isn't politics ... it's humanity. We currently live in a culture where it is still culturally acceptable to make fun of overweight people in the public sphere ... it's ridiculous. And, you would think a conservative (like yourself) might be more concerned with such a reality as I have read in some conservative medical journals some theories that overweight people should pay more for healthcare as they are statistically more likely to develop life-long, expensive health care concerns. Is that fair? No. That's what this law attempts to protect. Perhaps you don't care whether that becomes a reality or not ... but try to look at the world from multiple perspectives. The danger with party politics is that it tends to cloud the real issue because it teaches a reactinary reponse based on what you think you are supposed to believe rather than what you actually believe. Party politics is killing this country ... conservatives are trying to determine which candidate to vote for despite the fact that many of them have opinions outside of their own ... and that's wrong. "Liberals" do the same thing ... be real. Don't vote or think along someone else's party lines or you are just another lemming being led off the cliff.

I've been short and overweight my entire life and I've never been mistreated (except by immature punks when I was in high school -- not sure there's anything the law can do about that!). The reality is that all this new law does is open the door for stupid lawsuits, like overweight people who think they deserve to be mainstream fashion models.

Massachusetts isn't progressive, it's repressive!

I love Massachusetts and its progressive stance on making sure people are treated fairly, inclusively and with respect. Period. Get over it.
